Low back pain is incredibly burdensome, and it’s been estimated that up to 90% of people will have recurrent back pain at some point in their life.

The need for non-pharmacological long-term management is critical in our fight against the opioid epidemic. Conservative, movement-based care has shown promise as a potential solution, especially for those patients with recurrent and persistent low back pain.

This study used a Multidimensional Pain Inventory to classify its participants. The researchers discovered that adaptive copers perceived maintenance care and preventative strategies as having high value due to their belief in personal responsibility for their healthcare.

Our practice is happy to evaluate any of your patients with chronic low back pain to determine whether movement-based care will help them decrease their pain and improve their quality of life.

“There is emerging evidence supporting the use of pre-planned supportive long-term manual care, so called Maintenance Care (MC), for a certain group of patients with recurring and persistent LBP.”

“Patients who found MC to be of high value said that the procedure improved their quality of life. They felt that the care was structured, accessible, appreciated and delivered with a patient-centered experience.”

“Participants answered that pain relief offered them new possibilities, for example in terms of improved physical functioning, remaining well over longer time and that MC stimulated them towards healthier behaviors.”

We believe patients have better outcomes when their
health professionals work together.
