Over 38 million people in the US are affected by migraines, and while medications are commonly prescribed, they often have disabling side effects.
An overwhelming amount of migraine sufferers also have concurrent issues in the cervical spine. Evaluating the soft tissue and segmental (facet/disc) challenges is critical to achieving optimal results with care for many migraine patients. Using a combination of spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, rehab exercises, ergonomic advice, and lifestyle management has helped us achieve tremendous results with our patients.
Spinal manipulative therapy, a hallmark of chiropractic care, activates a descending inhibitory pathway and modulates pain. In the cases reported in this study, patients with migraine who received integrative care saw improvement in pain scores, pain-free days, decreased medication usage, and decreased anxiety.
“…over 75% of migraine patients report associated neck pain, and many more note musculoskeletal complaints, such as neck stiffness, muscle tension, or problems with jaw function.”
“Typical allopathic treatments for such neck pain include muscle relaxants, NSAID’s, and physical therapy, but these are often inadequate in addressing the underlying dynamics of these complaints and individuals with migraine frequently report unmet treatment needs.”
“Many medical practitioners are often unaware of the treatment approaches within the chiropractic profession and the efficacy of these approaches…”

We believe patients have better outcomes when their
health professionals work together.
