Thoracic spine pain is a growing issue due to our increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
Unlike the cervical and lumbar spine, the thoracic spine has limited mobility due to the rib cage. Additionally, the thoracic spine often experiences compensatory issues due to challenges in the adjacent cervical and lumbar regions.
Previous research has shown pain reductions in the cervical spine after thoracic spinal manipulation. However, this study focused on the factors associated with a positive response within the thoracic spine.
Expectations of improvement, comfort, and pain change post-intervention were all associated with a positive response to treatment. In our practice, we have a variety of spinal manipulation techniques available that we can match with our patients’ preferences to maximize their comfort. Additionally, inspiring our patients through practical education and movement empowerment also help us achieve fantastic results with patients struggling with thoracic pain.
